Welcome

Welcome to Morley College London. I am delighted you have decided to join us.

I would like to take this opportunity both to congratulate you on joining our learning community.  And a warm welcome back to all our returning students for the new term. It’s great to have you with us.

As you return to your studies I would like to provide a reminder that your Student Handbook is an essential source of information, available for download from the College’s online learning environment, Moodle. The College prides itself on being responsive to the views, ideas and concerns of students, and as set out in the Handbook, there are many ways in which the College listens and responds to the needs of students. Please do share any feedback on your experiences at Morley with your class representative and through completion of surveys and questionnaires.

The Morley Student Survey is a new annual survey, to be issued this term, which asks for general views on your experience of college services. Then the End-Of-Course Evaluation provides opportunity for you to share your specific views on the course you are completing.

As a learning community we’re committed to maintaining a safe environment for all. Your tutor will share with you a short introductory film at the start of your course which provides vital information about our collective commitment to Safeguarding and the Prevent Duty. The film is available via Moodle for you to view at any time.

I’m excited about the learning opportunities here at Morley, and I’ve every confidence you’ll find your course both stimulating and rewarding. Successful achievement of a course is always a moment of great personal satisfaction, and I hope you will feel entirely encouraged to progress your learning. Please don’t hesitate to ask your tutor for any guidance on your ideal next course.

I hope you’ll take the time to enjoy the distinctive cultural life of Morley, and join us for exhibitions of visual art, performances of music and theatre, public lectures and a wide range of creative events held throughout the year. As we head to the summer do look out for our Summer Shorts! These are short taster courses within which to try something new. Also, if you want to continue learning beyond the end of term then Morley+ offers a range of opportunities by which to continue your studies into the summer.

Whether you’re seeking to develop your skills, gain an academic qualification or develop your career, I wish you every success in your studies here at Morley College London.

Dr Andrew Gower, Principal

Morley Principal Dr. Andrew Gower welcomes all students for the summer term of 2015/16.
