GCSE English and maths

Preparation for Work and Study courses

To enrol on any of our Preparation for Work and Study courses, please attend the Advice and Guidance date listed below:

  • Thursday 28 March 10:00 - 12:30

If the course you are interested in starts in February or March, please email essentialskills@morleycollege.ac.uk to arrange an assessment.

The next available start dates for the Level 2 Childcare, Teaching Assistant, or Business Administration courses are in September 2019. Applications open in March 2019, please contact the Essential Skills department on 020 7450 1834 or email essentialskills@morleycollege.ac.uk to request an application pack.

The next available start dates for the CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) or the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools year-long courses are in September 2019; online applications open in January 2019. For further information regarding our Level 3 courses, please contact the department.

Essential Skills at the Stockwell Centre

There are a small number of Essential Skills courses that take place at the Stockwell Centre, the next courses are due to start in April 2019. Please attend one of the Advice and Guidance dates at the main Morley College site to be assessed.

Essential Skills at the Lewington Centre

The Lewington Centre is based in Rotherhithe, between Lewisham and Southwark, and offers a range of Essential Skills courses including ESOL, English and maths. To find out more and to enrol, please attend one of the January Advice and Guidance sessions.

What do I need to bring with me?

Students who want to enrol on of one of our Essential Skills courses should bring the following as proof of eligibility as it may be required on assessment day:

  • Valid passport/visa
  • Proof of benefits
  • Proof of low income (less than £330 p/w) - recent bank statements or three pay slips from the last six months.

Please note that our Functional Skills and GCSE English and maths courses are free as long as you have been living in the UK or the EU for the previous 3 years,  therefore you do not need to bring proof of eligibility with you.
