Bookbinding

The Morley College Bookbinding Department is well regarded for teaching traditional bookbinding, conservation and repair. We now also offer creative Artists Books, Pop Ups, Bookbinding Projects and combination Japanese Printing & Bookbinding Courses. Our very popular Japanese Woodcut courses also take place in the Bookbinding studio.

The Bookbinding studio has recently been refurbished and offers an air conditioned, bright studio and updated equipment, with custom made work benches, including an adjustable desk suitable for a wheelchair user.

We offer a wide range of courses, from Beginner to more Advanced courses during the day, evening and at weekends. Thinking about Bookbinding in order to repair or protect a favourite book? Then our general Bookbinding classes on Wednesdays, VBB001A or VBB004A are a good place to start. Or, are you interested in developing simple printmaking and bookbinding skills together- then Look at VBB020A on Monday evenings. And, if you want to develop a more creative approach to bookbinding a good starting place could be our Creative Bookbinding class on Thursday evenings.

We are particularly proud of our staff (link) who bring a breadth of knowledge and experience across a range of disciplines to their teaching, supported by their personal artistic practice. They are all Bookbinding specialists who work for museums, libraries and archives nationally and internationally.
