Morley Printmaking Department to Host Charity Print Auction
Morley College London is pleased to announce that its Printmaking department will host a charity print auction on 11 June, with all proceeds being donated to cancer charities Marie Curie and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Alongside the auction, Morley Printmaking department will also present Planets Box Set, an exhibition of print works by Morley staff and students in response to Gustav Holst’s The Planets. The exhibition, which was first shown as part of Morley’s Festival of Arts and Culture in 2018, will be on display in the Cardew Space at Morley’s main centre. The auction and exhibition together will serve as a fantastic celebration of the Printmaking department, its history, and its future, ahead of the opening of its new accessible studios in 2020.
The exhibition and charity auction will honour the memory of three printmaking tutors, Richard Michell, Dorothea Wight and Magar Balakjian, who were instrumental in developing the Printmaking department at Morley and worked at the College for many years. Works by all three tutors will be featured in the Cardew Space alongside alongside the Planets Box Set exhibition, and the auction will include work donated by past and present students and renowned artists who have either had a connection with the three artists or the Printmaking department.
Tickets for the exhibition and auction are available online here. Donated works for the auction are visible online at www.inprintprintout.co.uk, or on Morley Printmaking’s Instagram and Twitter feeds, @morleyprint.
