Welcome to the Summer Term from the Principal
Welcome to the Summer Term at Morley. Thank you for being part of the Morley learning community at Westminster Bridge Road, at the Morley Stockwell Centre, Lewington Centre, and at our range of learning locations in Lambeth. I am delighted you are with us.
For those students studying at Westminster Bridge Road, thank you very much for your patience while the renovation works are underway at the front of the College. As a college community we will hugely benefit from the improvements that are underway, with great progress being made in creating our new courtyard, step-free entrance, foyer, student services hub, and internet radio studios. There will be further updates on these important developments in the coming weeks.
As we start a new term it is important that I encourage you to refer to the Morley Student Handbook as your essential source of information about studying with us. The Handbook is available for download from the College’s online learning environment, Moodle. Just ask your tutor if you need any help accessing Moodle or the Handbook.
I should also emphasise that, as a college, we are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all. If you are joining us for a new course this term, your tutor will share with you a short online film produced by the College, which provides vital information about our collective commitment to Safeguarding and the Prevent Duty. The film is available via Moodle for you to view at any time.
We are always keen to hear your views about your experience at Morley, and are tremendously grateful for the work of the Student Council, its members, and all our student representatives. Please do share your feedback with your student representative, and through completion of Morley student feedback surveys.
Successful achievement of your course (or courses!) will be a moment of great personal satisfaction, and I hope you will feel motivated to progress your learning into the next academic year and beyond. Please ask your tutor for guidance on your next course at Morley.
During the coming term, I hope you’ll join us for the many exhibitions, performances, public lectures, and creative events that are planned. In particular, we have the excitement of our Festival of Arts and Culture later this term – Planets – from 27th June to 14th July. Our festival takes its inspiration from this being the 100th anniversary of the famous orchestral suite The Planets, written by Gustav Holst while he was the Director of Music at Morley!
Whether you’re seeking to develop your skills, gain academic qualifications, or build your career, I wish you every success in your studies here at Morley College London.
Dr Andrew Gower, Principal
