Morley Photography and TfL Partnership
16 images by Morley Students will be printed and on show at the Royal Festival Hall on 10 July 2017.
Morley’s Photography students have produced photographs to support the publicising of the transformation of Waterloo roundabout into a 'City Hub'. The’ City Hub’ project is an exciting prospect: a Mayoral ‘Key Opportunity Area’ to unlock developments creating homes and jobs, improving urban realm, protecting vulnerable road users, tackling congestion, and delivering the Mayor’s vision of getting more people cycling, more safely, more often.
Morley’s students were asked to capture and reflect the local vibe and culture of Waterloo through photographs of architecture, community, culture, movement, history, life, connections and people. Students made several visits at different times of day to experience the location as it is now and to imagine its transformation in the future.
From the images produced by Morley students, 16 photographs were chosen to go to TfL for judging. One image will be chosen to be used as large scale advertising visual to publicise the launch of the regeneration project. All of the images will be on display at the Royal Festival Hall from 10 July 2017 for a limited run of three days; before going on tour at locations in London.
We hope you enjoy the images and the individual visions of the students participating. Here are their entries in all their full size glory! Keep scrolling to see them all!
Paul Kemp (photography tutor at Morley College London) says, "As many students aspire to work professionally; ‘real-world’ projects, run in partnership with a client, are invaluable experience. The projects provide a structure and focus which gives the students added confidence. It was a pleasure to shoot this project and students enjoyed getting out into the local environment and working to a live brief"
