Welcome to Summer Term

Welcome to Morley College London.  Whether you are returning to studies or joining us as a new student I would like to offer you a warm welcome. I am delighted you have decided to study with us, and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on joining our learning community.

Your Student Handbook is an essential source of information, available for download from College’s online learning environment, Moodle.  The College prides itself on being responsive to the views, ideas and concerns of students, and as set out in the Handbook, there are many ways in which the College listens and responds to the needs of students.  Please do share any feedback on your experiences at Morley with your class representative and through completion of surveys and questionnaires.  You will shortly be invited to complete the annual Morley Student Survey which asks for general views on your experience of college services.  In addition, the End-Of-Course Evaluation provides opportunity for you to share your specific views on the course you are completing.

As a learning community we’re committed to maintaining a safe environment for all.  Your tutor will share with you a short introductory film at the start of your course which provides vital information about our collective commitment to Safeguarding and the Prevent Duty.  The film is available via Moodle for you to view at any time.

I’m excited about the learning opportunities here at Morley, and I’ve every confidence you’ll find your course both stimulating and rewarding.  Successful achievement of a course is always a moment of great personal satisfaction, and I hope you will feel entirely encouraged to progress your learning.  Please don’t hesitate to ask your tutor for any guidance on your ideal next course.

I hope you’ll take the time to enjoy the distinctive cultural life of Morley, and join us for exhibitions of visual art, performances of music and theatre, public lectures and a wide range of creative events held throughout the year.

For example, the Morley Gallery is proud to be hosting The Engine Room. An international sound art competition celebrating the most exciting sound art being produced right now by emerging artists across the world. Our Music department begins the term with a ‘Piano Masterclass’ lunchtime concert; these take place every Tuesday – showcasing different performances from music students and tutors every Tuesday. Just a glimpse of the exciting and thought provoking events to enjoy this term!

Whether you’re seeking to develop your skills, gain academic qualifications or develop your career, I wish you continuing success in your studies here at Morley College London.

 Dr Andrew Gower, Principal
