Message from the Principal Regarding KCC Merger

Andrew Gower 2018Dear colleagues,

Further to my previous emails, we continue to work together with Kensington and Chelsea College (KCC) towards a merger in which KCC joins Morley. More information on our work with KCC is available here.

At the bottom of our merger webpage are a number of short articles, one of which is for our current students. Within the article here we confirm that:

“Morley students will continue to enjoy the same range of provision at our Waterloo, Stockwell and Rotherhithe centres under the proposed merger with Kensington and Chelsea College. Whether you’re a current student or about to apply to us for a course you’ve spotted, it’s business as usual. We will still be called Morley College London.”

Thank you to all the staff who have attended the briefing sessions in April and May. Considerable work is currently underway with the Department for Education and Education Skills Funding Agency to secure the financial investment needed to underpin the merger proposal. It is not guaranteed that the investment will be secured, but positive progress is being made. Once the outcome of this work is known, the next step will be for the Morley Governing Body to meet to decide whether to move to the next stage in working towards merger, to undertake full due diligence.

I will be in touch again as soon as there is further news to report.

In the meantime, if you are approached for comment on the merger I would be grateful if you could refer any press enquiries to our PR and Marketing Officer, Leah Holmes, leah.holmes@morleycollege.ac.uk.
