We had an amazing time at this year’s Lambeth Country Show — and what a weekend it was! Morley College London was proud to greet visitors to one of the UK’s largest free festivals, held in Brockwell Park, Herne Hill. We brought creativity, workshops, sustainability, and music to one of South London’s best-loved community events.
Something for everyone!
Our workshops gave everyone a chance to try something creative, guided by our brilliant tutors. Across the weekend, we offered a wide range of drop-in activities that showcased a taste of what Morley has to offer.
There was no shortage of creative fun at the Morley stand, with a fantastic mix of hands-on workshops running all weekend! One of the most popular activities was to decorate a tote bag, where visiting makers designed their own personalised bags using fabric pens and stamps. Over at the embroidery table, South Londoners of all ages enjoyed trying their hand at stitching, while calligraphy offered a peaceful spot for beautiful lettering under expert guidance!
Things got colourful and bold at our printmaking station, where our visitors created vibrant designs using simple materials and lots of imagination. Draping on the Stand, a hands-on fashion activity invited Londoners to experiment with fabric directly on mannequins. The face painting area was a constant hit with younger visitors (and a few adults too), sending people off with glittering designs and wide smiles!
Our ukulele workshop brought plenty of strumming and laughter — with some first-timers even performing little tunes by the end. And for those looking for a quieter moment, the creative writing workshop. While the line dancing, which had festival goers of all ages moving together to upbeat music
Live Jazz that stole the show
A standout moment on Saturday was the fabulous 45 minute performance from our Morley Jazz Quartet, who brought smooth, soulful sounds to the festival stage. Their set drew a crowd and created the perfect atmosphere – showcasing the incredible musical talent at Morley!
A true celebration of community
More than anything, the Lambeth Country Show weekend was a celebration of creativity, inclusion, and the power of community – as well as bringing the countryside to the city! It was fantastic to see such a diverse come together, share the joy of trying something new.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, took part in a workshop, or stopped by to say hello. It was a brilliant to meet you – and a reminder of the community spirit that makes Morley so special.
