Morley celebrates International Jazz Day
In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people across the globe.
Morley’s head of Jazz, Flavio Li Vigni, explains why he loves Jazz:
“Without getting into the complexities of its origins, routes, and socio-political significance, one of the aspects of jazz that I love most is its ability to absorb and digest so many musical styles, remaining an art form in constant development while still retaining its distinctive identity — and, more importantly, an approach to playing that is based on listening and interaction in the moment.
The numerous podcasts we have released throughout the years in partnership with Morley Radio will give you an initial idea of the breadth of this ever-evolving style that we celebrate today in all its diversity. “
At Morley our jazz department is celebrating with a new video showcasing the wonderful Jazz courses available at Morley
