It is an exciting time for Acting: The Company as they undertake casting for their next production. We catch up with director Dominic Grant as he calls for new actors to audition to join this talented company.
Being invited to direct for the Morley’s Acting: The Company is always a special privilege. Immediately the mind and heart start racing, the creative flood gates open and, alongside this, if one is honest, a certain fear or dread! Because theatre making is about risk, adventure and exploration.
My last adventure with this company produced Macbeth: Reboot – the company were so thrilled with both their process and results they went on to form Reboot Theatre Company and produced the show independently at The Network Theatre, playing to sell out audiences and glowing reviews.
The current company directed by Lisa Cagnacci will be presenting Caryl Churchill’s Love and Information on the 4 and 5 February in our Studio Theatre.
Central to a rewarding rehearsal period and good production is the casting process; finding individuals who will throw flesh, bones and a beating heart onto characters, but also individuals who are team players – who will create and contribute to a proper ensemble.
So, auditions. They are, at best, a real opportunity to share your skills and engage in some working processes with the director to try and discover some ways of working together and revealing the chosen text. I’m really excited about this new venture and particularly about the auditions.
If you think you’d like to commit and contribute to an intensive and rewarding process, achieving a production and performance you can be truly proud of – then get in touch with the drama department to book your slot and let’s start work!
Auditions will be held on Thursday 18 February from 18:30 – 21:30. Please book at 20 minute slot by emailing the Drama department.
