Craft Week logoMorley is proud announce that we will be part of London Craft Week again.

On Friday, internationally renowned artist Felicity Aylieff will discuss the significance of clay as a form of expression and how the digital revolution of the 90’s has not reduced but actually re-newed the interested in clay craftmanship in her talk, ‘Clay Matters’.  

Sunday sees a day of interactive craft-workshops led by well-known artisans and makers. Crafts range from making a saddle stitched purse and creating ribbon art, to pinhole photography and wood engraving.

Moving Objects: Automata

A taster workshop learning to make objects that incorporate moving elements using simple mechanisms.

Colour Workshop

In this friendly hands-on session, work directly with paint, mixing colours, tints and shades.

Pinholes & Obscura’s - Make your own Camera Workshop!

On this fun workshop learn how to construct your very own cameras from a range of simple and cheap objects

Start Stumpwork Workshop

Make a bird, beast or fish with raised and padded embroidery techniques.

Patterning Fabric Using Clamp Resist Workshop

On this fun, introductory workshop explore folding, clamping and dyeing fabric using different colour combinations.

Leatherwork: Saddle Stitched Purse Workshop

In this intense, hands on session you will learn how to make a simple zipped purse in heavy leather.

Ribbon Art Workshop

In this hands-on session, gain the skills to make beautiful cockades that can adorn your hats or become a broach.

Make a Forged Brooch Workshop

Try your hand at traditional metalworking techniques to create a forged brooch.

Watercolour and Water Soluble Graphite Workshop

In this hands-on experimental session with artist Ruth Dupre, there will be simple demonstrations and technique experiments.

Miniature Throwing Workshop

Set in the ceramic studio space. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a session throwing miniature porcelain ceramic work.

Raku Firing Demonstration

Come and see an exciting ceramics demo involving the fast firing and cooling of work to produce a range of dynamic and unusual glazed surfaces. 

Drypoint Workshop

Explore drypoint printmaking and learn how different mark making achieves range of tones.

Making the Cut: Wood Engraving Workshop Spend an afternoon in the traditional world of wood engraving where you will cut your own woodblock and print from it.
Victorian Costume and Cravat/Collar Workshop Explore the fascinating world of Victorian dress, this workshop focuses on the stitching techniques and dress of the period.
