Running as part of Green Week 2021 at Morley College London, Morley’s initiative to raise awareness around the issues of sustainability, environmentalism and climate emergency. 5 days of lunchtime, afternoon and evening events…
As consumers and makers it is important for us to take responsibility for what we wear, and zero waste pattern cutting is an approach to making clothing which allows us to utilise every part of the fabric.
You will learn skills required to create patterns for garments using a sustainable technique. This online taster session is suitable for complete beginners up to those with intermediate level pattern cutting skills.
You will be introduced to using basic pattern cutting tools and skills, before experimenting with a variety of zero waste cutting techniques to enable you to produce garment patterns in half scale. These could then be scaled up to become full scale garments at home.
Alice Reynolds teaches Pattern Cutting and Fashion short courses at Morley College, as well as the Access to HE Fashion and HNC Fashion accredited courses. Alice has a background in creative pattern cutting with a particular interest in exploring silhouette, textiles, and ideas of hand craft.
Session will be held on Zoom and link sent to you prior to the event with purchase of a ticket
