Penny Lecture: Scooters, Waterlilies, Buddhas and Dragons
Our oldest tradition dates all the way back to when we were first founded. Listen to a lecture on an interesting and unusual topic, delivered by an expert, NOW COMING ONLINE.
We begin our new online lectures with The History of Swahilli with Adam Johns on our At Home with Morley Youtube channel.
Swahili (or Kiswahili) is a language spoken by over 100 million people in Eastern Africa. Adam Johns introduces the history and culture of the language, focussing on popular music in Tanzania.
More lectures to be announced, dates and times coming soon.
Topics will include ‘The Origins of Jazz’, by Morley’s Jazz lead Flavio Li Vigni and ‘Music Out of Context’, by Peter Collyer Morley’s Head of Music, exploring the origins and contexts of well-known pieces of classical music!
