Morley Gallery: WW2 – War Pictures by British Artists

July 29, 2016 @ 12:00 am - January 24, 2021 @ 1:12 pm

WW2 – War Pictures by British Artists is a project which is comprised of an art exhibition, two talks, a one-day course and a 240-page catalogue.

 WW2 Mary Adshead British Restaurant

In the exhibition you can explore over 200 artworks – paintings, drawings, prints and three dimensional objects – created by British artists during WW2 both at the frontline and at the home front.

The exhibition is inspired by the 75th anniversary of the original War Pictures by British Artists series (Oxford University Press 1942-1943) and the exhibition follows the same eight sections of the original scheme: War At Sea, Blitz, R.A.F., Army, Women, Production, Soldiers and Air Raids. Among the artworks you’ll find work by for example Edward Bawden, Muirhead Bone and Evelyn Dunbar.

The exhibition includes two free talks: The Story about a Lambeth Midwife and The Orchestras of Auschwitz and a one-day course: War Pictures by British Artists.

It is Liss Llewellyn Fine Art’s third project on war art, and the second in association with Morley College. Morley Gallery is delighted to be collaborating once again.

In connection to the exhibition you can buy the catalogue WW2 – War Pictures by British Artists: £25 (when visiting the gallery £20)
Buy them when visiting, email gallery@morleycollege.ac.uk or call 020 7450 1826.
