This 2002 film based on the novel by Dai Sijie presents a story about young love, renewed hope and cultural awakening during the Cultural Revolution. Nominated for Best Foreign Film, Golden Globes 2003 and Best Adapted Screenplay, Golden Horse Film Festival 2003 with Chen Kun, Liu Ye and Zhou Xun starring in the film.
