Egg-citing news!

Scratch winner announced!

Following the two Scratch nights held in March we are pleased to announced the winner is Theodora van der Beek with her show Egg

Egg is a surreal voyage into the life of an egg, exploring its cultural symbolisms and the burdens they bring. At once powerful and powerless, comedic and majestic; the egg stands alone, an outsider in a human world.

Surprising, fantastical and bold: a coming-of-age journey that tackles age-old questions like ‘What came first?’

For the last eleven years Theodora have been devising, performing and writing work for experimental theatre companies throughout the UK and internationally. Theodora’s work is strongly motivated by feminism and seeks to deconstruct the assumptions we have about gender – applying a Cartesian thought process and stripping away everything we can’t be sure of until we are left with a blank slate.

As the winner she will be performing her full length show at Morley Studio Theatre as part of Summer School in July before heading up to Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Morley’s Scratch competition aims to support young theatre companies, writers, directors and performers develop work to take to the Edinburgh Festival. The competition sits alongside Morley’s theatre and acting programme, providing courses to develop students performance skills at every level.

Following the two Scratch nights held in March we are pleased to announced the winner is Theodora van der Beek with her show Egg.
