Morley Taster Week
Try something new or revisit an old skill with Morley College London’s week…
After dancing for many years, Marianne Rouvier-Angeli was inspired to start the course: Dance & Performance for People over Fifty, by the acclaimed Sadler’s Wells ‘Company Of Elders’. This dance company for mature dancers has been proving since 1989 that is never too late to start dancing.
A recent research reveals the social, mental and physical benefits of dance for older people making them healthier and happier. As a dancer and choreographer, Marianne recognises the value of the mature performing voice and said “I find the qualities that a more mature dancer shows when dancing or performing are quite unique” and she added “a blend of life experience, elegance and wisdom is displayed in the way they move”.
The classes are tailored so each student can feel valued regardless of their age, physical ability or previous dance experience. Work is created and devised in a nurtured and safe environment, while each dancer is encouraged to explore their full creative potential.
Throughout the year, the dancers perform their work in dance studios or at the Emma Cons Hall at Morley College London.

“I very much enjoyed the classes for older people because they made me feel happy to be dancing, and that it was still possible for me to do something creative. In addition, Marianne is an inspiring teacher” Anna Rohatiner
“At the age of 63 I attended an entry level of modern evening dance class at a good dance school in London… The average age of participants was 20 or 22 (…) the class was good but (…) in terms of sequence it was exhausting! I dropped out after 4 sessions. Marianne’s classes are also demanding but with an appreciation of each individual’s progress as well of the ensemble… “John Hale
