What you will learn

Experimental Etching painterly etching using Whiteground and collagraph. Develop an experimental approach to mark making with this exciting, painterly, versatile and expressive etching resist technique. During this short course you will learn how to prepare white ground and explore it’s creative potential. You will be encouraged to paint it, splash it, flick it, and splodge it onto your zinc plate as well as applying it using found objects, textured wallpaper, fabric, bubblewrap, leaves and flowers to create rich tonal etchings. You will also learn how to apply, offset the whiteground onto an etching plate utilising your old or new wood or lino cuts. You will then further develop your imagery by adding colour, combining your whiteground plate with a second collagraph plate. This studio based practical course encourages an open and experimental approach to etching.
