This course is aimeThis course is for adults who aim to develop creativity, research and design skills alongside technical abilities and pursue a new career in Interior Design and Architecture The practical nature of the course is supported with historical and contextual studies, visits to galleries and design events, project work and showing the work by participating in a final exhibition. This is a mixed level group suitable for beginners to intermediate level in design. Following successful achievement of this course, you will be awarded a: Level 2 Certificate in Drawing-(Interior Design & Architecture) pathway.d to develop your creativity, research and design skills alongside technical abilities. The practical nature of the course is supported with historical and contextual studies, visits to museums and project work. This is a mixed level group suitable for beginners to intermediate level in design. Following successful achievement of this course, you will be awarded a: Level 2 Certificate in Art & Design (Interior)

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand design processes, research skills, idea generation and artwork presentation
  • Colour, materials and processes
  • Develop technical drawing skills in order to visualise interior concepts
  • Develop hand drawn rendering skills to add colour and texture to visuals
  • Collate documentation of working methods and technical notes
  • Produce scaled models of your interior concepts
  • Produce samples and concept boards
  • Produce a portfolio of interior design concepts

Class format and activities

Teaching is classroom based. Teaching is both as a whole class and an individual one-to-one basis using demonstrations, discussion, examples, samples, handouts and other technical support material. You will negotiate individual learning goals together with the tutor. Demonstrations with workshop practice will form the main body of the learning environment to embrace the challenging interior design projects. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have the opportunity to discuss this with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals. As you begin to develop your own designs, you will do more independent work. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Entry requirements

An interest in the subject and enthusiasm to learn. Learners will gain entry onto this course via an interview and preferably will be asked to show a basic portfolio of drawing work. You will also need a GCSE or equivalent at grade D or 3.

What you need to know before you enrol

Excellent attendance and punctuality are required from all students. Students are generally expected to allocate three hours for out-of-classroom revision. Benefit from a free Microsoft Office account with Email, MS Teams, Office Apps, and much more for the academic year in which you enroll There is a small additional equipment charge payable in class.

What you can do next

Upon successful completion, learners can seek employment/self-employment in the Interior Design industry.
