    Entry requirements

Upon applying for this course, you will be invited to present examples of your work to the tutor, ideally in person but this can also be arranged via e mail or video conference if necessary. The tutor will want to know more about your existing skills and knowledge and will discuss your work and ideas with you. Please use the website to alert us of your interest and we shall arrange an appointment with you. A keen interest in the subject and the ability to attend the sessions regularly is key to your success. As part of the course you will be asked to read material, take notes, listen to instructions and discuss related topics, therefore students should have a reasonable level of skill in speaking, reading and writing in English.

What you need to know before you enrol

During the course we will visit locations and places outside of the college (museums for example). A reasonable level of fitness will be required for walking and drawing on site. The studio also contains Apple Macs for design work. It would be helpful if you have some familiarity with Macintosh computers and know how to use standard menus and commands. However this is not an essential requirement as these skills will be taught as part of the course. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes and discuss related topics. You will be required to revise and practise at home to reinforce what you have learned during the lesson. Information about the Mac computers and the relevant Adobe software will be provided by the tutor. The course fee does not include printing and presentation costs. The course has elements of written work and the workload at different points of the year can be demanding. The structure of the course means that students will need to be self motivated to complete both set and self-initiated projects and therefore students will need to be actively designing and working on briefs between classes in order to fulfil the learning outcomes and get the best experience on course when working with others in small groups. Many of the Art & Design studios have limited accessibility. If you have restricted mobility please contact the Art & Design Administrator on 0207 450 1934 or Learning Support on 0207 450 1835 before enrolling.
