Class format and activities

Classes will be held in person at our North Kensington Centre and will feature a range of activities to support your learning including presentations, discussions, group work, case studies and projects. The core knowledge and understanding are assessed through an externally set examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project. This will encompass approximately 50% of the qualification time and will be graded A*-E and U. The occupational specialism is assessed through synoptic assessment of performance outcomes. This will be graded as Distinction, Merit, Pass or ungraded. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Entry requirements

You should hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 5 or above, including English, Maths, and or a technical subject such as ICT or Computer Science.

What you need to know before you enrol

The course will run over 2 years and will run from the beginning of September to the end of June in each academic year. Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required to complete the course successfully. Due to the volume of technical knowledge and principles covered, as well as their application, students should be prepared for significant individual study outside of lessons.

What you need

You should arrive to your lessons prepared to learn with pens, pencils and a writing pad alongside the expectation to be adept at using a computer to complete, save and submit your work. All other resources and materials you need will be provided. Ideally you will have access to a computer at home with internet access. However, there are college facilities that can be utilised too.

What you can do next

On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress into employment into a range of occupations in the Digital Business sector, including data technician roles. The qualification can also be used to gain entry to a degree programme in an aligned specialism at a range of universities.
