In this practical course you will learn a number of camera and studio lighting techniques that will enable you to create the desirable mood in your portraits and still-life photographs. In our industry standard studio, you will have the opportunity to use up-to-date equipment to produce high quality images. By discovering the work of renowned photographers, you will experiment with lighting techniques and explore composition and styling with the aim of recreating the lighting effects of your chosen photographers. You will identify the challenges of portraiture and still life photography and will learn how to resolve them. The course is based around practical demonstrations and extensive hands on practice. At the end of the course, you will go home with a good range of images.
Each studio technique is taught by demonstration, one-to-one, feedback and group tutorials, encouraging each student’s personal strengths and interests. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
You are required to have basic knowledge in photography and comfortable using your camera in manual settings.
In order to join the course you should have a good understanding of basic camera techniques, such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
You will need to provide your own DSLR camera with lens. You will be able to bring props and object for your set-ups. Notepad is advisable to keep notes and make light diagrams.
