What you will learn

A Sculpture taster course for beginners to get a feel for stone & wood carving and explore tools and techniques. Stone & Wood carving Sculpture term students can also use this course to develop their on going projects. Basic materials included.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand and practice basic stone and wood carving techniques
  • How to make a small design and transfer ideas into a carving block
  • Understand basic safety with tools and how to maintain them
  • Create a small carvings in stone and /or wood

    Demonstration, practical work and discussion, with one to one guidance. Beginners will be given practical guidance and health and safety information. You will develop your carving techniques. We will be looking at visual examples of other stone & wood sculptors' work.

    No. This course is suitable for beginners, on going stone & wood carving students and sculpture students who wish to learn new skills.
