What you will learn

This is an online course where students do much more than passively sit in front of a computer: tailor-made and other activities promote real engagement and active participation in a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment, all activities aiming to consolidate and extend their command of the language, developing all language skills and increasing understanding of the language in a variety of contexts. Widening the vocabulary range, incorporating gradually abstract language and using more complex structures are integrated goals. Awareness of socio-cultural aspects of Spain and other Spanish speaking countries is developed throughout. The course will start with a quick revision of main topics covered in Unit 1

  • Extract and summarize information from newspaper articles and other original texts from different sources

    The course is based on the communicative approach: Interacting with others , participating in discussions, role play, pair and group work, developing all language skills by reading and commenting different texts and listening to audio visual material from different sources. Correct pronunciation is encouraged throughout. The lesson plan is uploaded weekly in Moodle, so students can prepare beforehand and make the most of the lesson participating fully in all activities

    Entry requirements

    We recommend that you study Spanish for at least 3 or 4 years recently or have an equivalent knowledge of the language before enrolling for this course.

    Regular homework is recommended for revision and consolidation ensuring that your learning outcomes are achieved.

    Pen and paper. Textbook is TBA at the beginning of the course. Homework and other material are uploaded weekly in Moodle. The course is online so you will need internet connection and access to a personal device.
