What you will learn

Further develop your skills in using the language in a range of practical and social situations. Build on your knowledge of present, past, future, and subjunctive forms, and practice by using them in business communication and holiday planning. This course is suitable for students who have completed A2 level and are working towards B1 (intermediate level)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Express plans, hopes and wishes (presente de subjuntivo)
  • Express different types of emotions and feelings
  • Give, ask for advice, and make suggestions (subjunctive and imperative)
  • Debate some cultural and current affairs related to Spanish speaking countries
  • Understand the gist of a narrative, explanation, or description

  • Class format and activities

    Practicing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Learning through practical activities (individual tasks, role-plays, pair and small group work and games). Write more complex sentences: e.g. gap-filling and grammar exercises. Following and giving presentations. Listening for the gist and more specific information. Revising topics (e.g. vocabulary) and grammar points In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

    Entry requirements

    We recommend that you complete Spanish Stage 3, unit 1 or have the equivalent knowledge of approx. 115 hours of previous study (A2) before enrolling on this course.     What you need to know before you enrol

    Good attendance and punctuality are required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time (1-2 hours/weekly)

    What you need

    You will need pen and a notebook for the weekly lessons at the college. Any textbook required for the course will be negotiated by the tutor with students at the beginning of the course. You will also need home connection to Internet and a device to use at home. Access to Morley Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on a weekly basis. In here you will find class and supplementary material for each lesson.
