What you will learn

Explore the cultures and customs of Spanish-speaking countries at an advanced level. Work on your understanding of the language and your advanced-level language skills. This course is suitable for advanced level students. (Level C1)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand a wide range of complex texts, improving your ability to appreciate implicit as well as explicit meaning
  • Report and comment on a range of complex subjects and ideas, orally and in writing, with increasing accuracy and appropriate linguistic structures.,
  • Hold discussions, arguing articulately and persuasively, responding to questions and comments and addressing different arguments spontaneously and appropriately.
  • Express opinion and develop independent discourse
  • Increase your understanding of the spoken language, either live or recorded, provided you have the time to familiarize with the accent. Develop the ability to understand different language registers

    • Improving your command of the language through a variety of student-centered, and communicative activities: simulations, pictorial stimuli, debates, class discussions, presentation and critical comment of weekly news.,• Learning how to write reports, summaries and letters, reconstructing arguments in a coherent , manner. ,•Learning the complexities of grammar and syntax through communicative activities, exercises and translations.

    Entry requirements

    Ideally students should have completed a Stage 5 course and at least one term at level 6 or 340 hours’ tuition. However if your are able to deal effectively with everyday situations without much prompting, talk about the past using different past tenses, recognise and use the majority of constructions requiring subjunctive, give advice, express opinion, and sustain an argument with some confidence, this is the suitable level.
