Singing for Actors – Discover your singing potential
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to warm up the voice safely and effectively.
- Explain the anatomy and physiology of the voice.
- Apply basic techniques of breathing and breath control in singing to produce a consistent and healthy sound.
- Perform with vocal resonance, flexibility and clear diction.
- Understand the way to modify their vocal production based on folk, classical, jazz, musical theatre, and pop/rock genres.
Class format and activities
You will work on : Posture and Tension Breathing Abdominally Vocal Chords and Vibration Resonance and Vowel Modification Combining the Elements How to sing Folk How to sing Classical How to sing Jazz How to sing Musical Theatre How to sing Rock/Pop In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
This course is open to all.
What you need to know before you enrol
Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required from all students. This course will include some completion of activities outside of class time, e.g. preparation of favourite exercises to share with fellow students. Study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.

Be ready to participate in the sessions. If joining remotely, good internet connection and a device to live-stream.
