What you will learn

This course offers a progressive training in contemporary dance for adult learners regardless of their previous background. It will cover technique, creativity (improvisation and composition) and performance (choreography) in contemporary dance through the curriculum of Rambert Grades, which will be tailored by the tutor to the students. In addition, your tutor will reinforce and expand on these areas with material drawn from her own experience and background. Rambert Grades is a holistic training that promotes transferable skills and develops the whole individual. It's accessible to all, regardless of ability and prior experience. It’s built across three main pillars: Performance, including original solo material devised by Hofesh Shechter, Creativity and Technique. The emphasis is in understanding how movement and our bodies work and transferring this understanding to each individual, working creatively and comprehensively. Rambert Grades offers qualifications in Levels 1 - 3 in Contemporary Dance. This is achieved via examination after completion of the relevant(s) grade(s). This is completely optional for the students taking part on this course and arranged separately. Grades 1,2 & 3 correspond to Level 1.
