What you will learn

You will learn to use metal and mixed media to make sculptures with moving parts, including mobiles and simple automata including puppets. We will cover various joining methods including spot welding and silver soldering and explore balance, hinges and cranks. With a tutor and technician team you will be encouraged and assisted to design and create your own sculptural and performing object. All levels welcome including Beginners. Safe studio practice.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Learn to use metal and mixed media to make sculptures with moving parts, including mobiles, puppets and simple automata.
  • Learn different joining methods including spot welding and silver soldering.
  • Learn to make and use hinges and cranks exploring balance
  • Learn and practice workshop Health and safety for all mediums and process'

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Pelham Hall Sculpture studio is a 5 min walk from the Main College on Lambeth Walk.

    What you need

    Sturdy footwear and old clothing or overalls to wear in class. Personal protective equipment (PPE) for all process' will be provided in the studio.
