This is a workshop for poets who are getting published, or sending out work. Each week set reading, themes, forms and styles inspire you to write new work, or redraft old poems. You will receive weekly peer and tutor feedback. Student writing regularly gets published.
Email a poem in advance each week, in response to set reading, themes, forms and styles, or bring work in progress. All have a poem workshopped each week and participate in feedback for fellow poets. You will be given written tutor feedback each week. The pedagogic method is reading, practice and lively discussion.
Students should be regular writers of poems and have a good knowledge of contemporary poetry. They should be interested in publishing their work, or already have poetry published.
This course will be delivered online using Microsoft Teams. Students will have access to coursework via Morley Moodle and Microsoft Teams. Each week you will be expected to write a homework poem in response to set reading and writing prompts using different themes, forms, or techniques, or to redraft a poem in progress.
Pen and Paper. Smartphone or laptop / tablet with WiFi.
Many poets return to this workshop, which has different reading and writing prompts each term. Or there are other advanced poetry classes available: week-long residencies through the Arvon Foundation, or a MA in Poetry.
