What you will learn

Learn to mix natural dye print pastes and apply and fix design techniques to fabric swatches. Explore a range of processes using natural dye extracts, kitchen waste and colour modifiers to create pattern through stencils and polychromatics. Build a small portfolio with recipes to further knowledge in this exciting field of colour.

    This is a practical specialism delivered in a specialist studio. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment. The workshop will involve demonstrations and a presentation of naturally dyed and printed textiles together with insight into contemporary natural dye print practice. Students will learn how to make their own print paste, develop sample designs and print and fix fabrics

    Entry requirements

    Open to all with an interest in natural dye print and surface design. Adapted to all levels of experience.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    This course is on the second floor of the Nancy Seear Building on King Edward Walk. There is lift access to the first floor only and stair lift to 2nd floor. If you have any mobility support needs please contact Additonal Learning Support on 020 7450 1972 before enrolling
