  • Class format and activities

As this class will be in centre, there will be a combination of speaking and practical activities (individual tasks, and pair and small group work), reading and writing basic single words and short sentences, and listening for gist. In addition to ongoing support from your tutor, there will be opportunities for you to study collaboratively as well as to develop learner independence. Classroom interaction patterns are designed to appeal to all students, particularly those who relish the idea of being incentre after months of lockdown. There will be an opportunity for you to try out what you have learned on members of the Portuguese-speaking community, with little or no knowledge of English. Assessment methods: Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals e.g. progression to an advanced- level course. The college's virtual learning environment - Moodle - will be used to support your learning with links to useful Youtube videos. Self-study materials will also be posted on Moodle.
