What you will learn

This series of masterclasses is for advanced pianists (of post grade 8 level) playing major works of the repertoire.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • develop better understanding of the works you play
  • have a range of ways to improve your technique and obtain your desired sound
  • give and receive feedback on different works of the piano repertoire

    Each student is required to bring one or two pieces of any composer from Baroque to the 21st century, and will receive a 1-1 session, while the rest of the group will be encouraged to give feedback and discuss important issues of piano technique, style, performance anxiety and ways of practising. Those who wish attend as 'observers' and not actively participate, can have a discounted fee of £35.

    This masterclass is open to pianists of grade 8 level and beyond.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Make sure you bring one or two fairly well-prepared pieces of the piano repertoire. If you are unsure about your choices, you can contact the tutor in advance and discuss it with him.

    What you need

    You need to bring your music. Some people also like to bring a tablet or phone where they can download the pieces the other students are playing, but photocopies may also be provided.
