What you will learn

An accredited course for anyone wanting to make the first steps into working in an office or as an administrative assistant. Gain L1 Certificate in Occupational Studies. Achievement on your course will be measured by completion of written assignments. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.:progression to another course.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use Microsoft Word to create a leaflet
  • Browse the internet effectively and confidently
  • Send formal emails with attachments
  • Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation
  • Stay Safe on the internet and protect yourself from threats

Entry requirements

You will need English language at Entry 3 or above.

You will be required to undertake an assessment before enrolling onto the course.

What you need to know before you enrol

You will need to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality of over 90%. This course requires study and completion of activities outside of class time.

What you need

You will need access to a computer and internet connection to participate in lessons and complete assignments. Lessons will be delivered via online platforms, i.e. Microsoft Teams and Moodle.

Class format and activities

Online delivery with limited face-to- face teaching. You will take part in group work and individual work. You will work towards group projects to practise and apply your administrative and IT skills in a real life context. You will have access to additional online material to study for the qualification at home and in class. You will be given homework. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
