What you will learn

This qualification is designed for a wide range of learners with some existing knowledge of this area who are interested in improving their understanding of nutrition and healthy eating. These may be learners who wish to access this training with a view to progress to further qualifications or employment within Sport and Recreation, Exercise and Fitness, Hospitality and Catering or Healthcare. It complements other qualifications and enables learners to develop within their current job role within these sector areas.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • increase understanding of the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining health
  • increase confidence in planning and achieving a healthy diet
  • provide an understanding of how an individual’s dietary requirements change throughout their life
  • provide an understanding of food labelling and the ability to use information from food labels
  • provide information on eating disorders
  • increase understanding of the role of a healthy diet for weight management
  • increase understanding of the principles of food safety in a home environment

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health [NCFE]

Class format and activities

Study at your own pace with self-directed learning, making use of supporting documents to reinforce your learning. There is a scheduled weekly class between you and the tutor Assessment 100% portfolio. Keeping a portfolio of your coursework will not only provide your tutor with evidence of your learning, but also help you with the learning process itself. To ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor As a student at Morley College London, you have access to Microsoft Office 365 and MS Teams to share resources, communicate with your tutor outside of class time and submit your assignments. The course is delivered in line with latest government guidance around social distancing and ‘lockdown’ restrictions and regulations.

What you need to know before you enrol

We are able to provide ongoing support and training with using Office 365 and MS Teams but it is our expectation that you are able to engage with IT independently and have your own suitable device to submit assignments and have good written and spoken English – Level 1 / GCSE or above
