Come and enjoy a FREE Fusing Taster session, perfect for anyone who's ever wanted to try their hand working with glass! Explore glass as a raw material in its varying forms including sheet and frit; learn the fundamentals of glass cutting and simple assembly to create small-scale fused glass pieces. This taster provides a unique opportunity to experiment with a range of specialist materials: to expand and develop your skills as well as your confidence, and possibly open the door to a new world of making: it is the perfect introduction to the art of Fusing Glass. We encourage you to come along and have a go!
You will be working on set tasks and processes guided by your expert glass tutor, Anna Chrysopoulo. Teaching takes place in a practical workshop setting, including both discussion and demonstration. To ensure that you make the best possible progress you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
This course is for beginners, with little or no experience of the subject area. If you already have some knowledge of glass fusing, this course also offers you the opportunity to refresh and develop existing skills. The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning or exploration of kiln-formed glass - specifically an introduction to glass fusing. For more information about the course contact the glass lecturer: Anna.Chrysopoulo@morleycollege.ac.uk
It would be helpful to bring a sketchbook/notebook, pencils/pen/marker pen etc. You will need to wear sturdy shoes, boots or trainers (no open sandals); an apron. We have basic tools in the workshop which have been adapted to facilitate a safe learning environment.
With these transferable skills you will have the opportunity and ability to further develop your creative potential and expand your learning within 3D studies: we encourage progression for further study (dependant on ability), within our glass provision at Morley such as the BTEC Level 2 in Glass for example, as well as other courses in Art & Design the college provides. Please speak with your tutor for further advice including course information.
