What you will learn

A small orchestra of high standard, playing music from the 18th century to the present day. The orchestra gives regular public concerts. Students can join in any term, subject to audition.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • The work of the orchestra is ongoing and you will play a varied selection of the chamber orchestra literature from late baroque until the present day.

    A level of ABRSM Grade 7/8 or comparable standard is needed and ideally some depth of previous orchestral experience. It is possible under some circumstances to join the orchestra after the start of each term. Online enrolment on term 2 of this course, is only available to those enrolled in the previous term.If you are a current student you will have received an email alerting you to this.

    Playing long orchestral pieces does require some physical and mental stamina Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all players.

    Class format and activities

    The Morley Chamber Orchestra rehearsals will take place in-centre with social distancing. You will learn from the conductor through participation in rehearsals and preparation for performances, and from your colleagues in the orchestra.
