A small orchestra of high standard, playing music from the 18th century to the present day. Students can join in any term. We are currently looking to recruit string and trumpet players. There will be two concerts this term, one in the middle of February and a second at the end of March.
You will learn from the conductor through participation in rehearsals and preparation for performances, and from your colleagues in the orchestra. The orchestra will give two concerts on 3 February 2022 and 17 March 2022.
There is an audition process, but entry is also by recommendation or application to the conductor. A level of ABRSM Grade 7/8 or comparable standard is needed and ideally some depth of previous orchestral experience. It is possible under some circumstances to join the orchestra after the start of each term.
Excellent attendance and punctuality [include over 90% if you think it would be helpful] is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time [include number of hours if appropriate].
You will only need to bring your instrument.
