What you will learn

A small orchestra of high standard, playing music from the 18th century to the present day. Students can join in any term. We are currently looking to recruit string and trumpet players. There will be a concert in the middle of June.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • The work of the orchestra is ongoing and you will play a varied selection of the chamber orchestra literature from late baroque until the present day

    You will learn from the conductor through participation in rehearsals and preparation for performances, and from your colleagues in the orchestra. The concert will give a public performance on June 15th 2023.

    Entry requirements

    There is an audition process, but entry is also by recommendation or application to the conductor. A level of ABRSM Grade 7/8 or comparable standard is needed and ideally some depth of previous orchestral experience. It is possible under some circumstances to join the orchestra after the start of each term.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Excellent attendance and punctuality are required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time through independent practice. Please note that you may not always be required to play in all Chamber Orchestra concerts subject to the repertoire.
