What you will learn

For those with a working knowledge of metal work, these courses allow more time to develop ideas and skills, and work on projects at their own pace under tutor supervision. It is essential to wear old clothes and strong footwear. These courses are technician-supported. Basic materials included but extra charge for materials used over and above the allocated material course fee. Beginners also welcome to learn and follow Beginner metal exercises

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

To develop and expand on existing metal working skills
How to produce a constructed metal object to a satisfactory standard
To develop and research ideas, imaginatively and through the works of other students -sharing best practrice
Learn and practice high standards of health and safety practice
New Students: After an initial assessment, all new students will be inducted into various welding techniques including gas and electric processes
Returning/Ongoing Students: Will continue ongoing personal projects, researching new techniques and processes, and expand their practice

Class format and activities

Developing own individual metal projects with Step by step instruction, demonstrations and observation. Individual tuition and question and answer Group discussion and feedback Photographic recording of work in progress Individual learning goals will be negotiated with the tutor

Entry requirements

No previous experience of sculpture is necessary. Experience of drawing and design is desirable, but not necessary.
