What you will learn

A fun Introductory course over 3 days. This course will give you the opportunity to learn about basic metal work for silversmithing and make a small bowl.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Familiarise with Jewellery Studio, equipment and health and safety precautions
  • Understand metal properties, annealing, work hardening and manipulation of metal
  • Use basic smithing skills of piercing, preparing sheet metal and raising an dome using hammer and stake
  • Use planishing hammer and stake to smooth and planish bowls surface
  • Caulk bowls edge and finish

    Tutor demonstration and explanation. Students practice skills in the studio. Annotations made by students to support the practical tasks. Basic sketches made by students to express own ideas.
