What you will learn

A look at how the capital has been portrayed in documentary films. You will get to see how London has changed over the years. You will see changing styles of documentary film making. You will get to discuss some of the issues that have affected London over the last 100 years, and see how film has been used to bring about change. You will learn about different filmmakers.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify issues in London history in 1910-2000
  • Look at the hidden agendas in London documentaries

    Each class will involve a screening of documentary films from a different era, starting in the early twentieth century.There will then be a presentation about the background to the film, the filmmaker and the issues in the film.The class will then discuss the issues in the film and how effectively the film addresses them.
