What you will learn

Class format and activities
You will learn experientially by active participation in classroom exercises and discussions. You will be expected to work with other group members, to share a little of yourself with them, and to listen to and respect what others in the group share. It is important that you are open to the possibility of learning more about yourself through your interactions with others in the group. The course involves experiential elements, which will involve some personal disclosure and associated personal developmental activities. The assessment focusses on practical skills and qualities as well as on written evidence. The combination of tutor assessment and separate external assessment by CPCAB includes both objective independent assessment and the relational knowledge of the candidate and their work. To ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor. The course is assessed via portfolio and external CPCAB assessment. Keeping a portfolio of your coursework will not only provide your tutor with evidence of your learning, but also help you with the learning process itself. Your portfolio is made up of different types of evidence. As a student at Morley College London, you have access to Microsoft Office 365. Microsoft Teams in an application within Microsoft 365 – it is your primary mechanism for studying during your course throughout lockdown. The course is delivered in line with latest government guidance around social distancing and ‘lockdown’ restrictions and regulations.
Online application and successful Interview with tutor. You should 19 years or over. Applicants to this course must have completed CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2) or the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) equivalent of at least 75 GLH. This qualification is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty and/or severe psychological distress as the course involves experiential elements that will involve some personal disclosure and associated personal developmental activities.
What you need to know before you enrol
100% attendance and punctuality are expected from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time. Each session has (an) Assignment task(s) attached which you need to complete as you progress through the qualification building your knowledge, skills, and self-awareness in line with the CPCAB progression model. Once you have completed this qualification you can continue training to become a counsellor by doing CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (TC-L4).
