What you will learn

This qualification is perfect if you are thinking about working as a volunteer and will provide you with an insight into the role and an awareness of the personal standards required of you whilst volunteering. It is also suitable for those people who are already in a volunteering role and will enhance both your knowledge and skills. In these circumstances you could use your volunteering role to assist you to gather the evidence required.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • understand the role of a volunteer within a voluntary organisation
  • understand the activities of voluntary organisations
  • identify the skills required to be a successful volunteer
  • understand the regulatory frameworks that may apply to being a volunteer.

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Award in Volunteering [NCFE]

Class format and activities

You will be based in a classroom and typical activities will include group work, pair work, discussion and case studies. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.

Entry requirements

Learners will need English to take the course, and an interest in working with voluntary work. There are no academic entry requirements to do this course. This qualification is a short introduction for anyone considering working in the voluntary sector. It is also suitable for anyone already working in a voluntary organisation who wishes to formalise and further develop their existing experience and skills.

You should arrive to your lessons prepared to learn with pens, pencils and a writing pad. All other resources and materials you need will be provided.
