Jazz Singing Workshop 1
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- recognise and undestand the basic structure of the blues
- interpret jazz standards in various styles
- use some basic strategies to improvise and scat over jazz standard songs
- use some strategies to improve your interplay with other musicians
- use basic performace techniques
Class format and activities
Vocal warm ups Learning blues and jazz repertoire Improvising exercises Listening and discussion. Assessments will be made based on student's performance during the sessions.
The ability to sing in tune and in time. An appreciation and love of jazz.
What you need to know before you enrol
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires regular practice (including listening) outside of class time.
What you need
Checking class online platform regularly to always be updated about the contents of the lessons and follow any instruction. Occasionally you will need to print your charts and lyrics.
