What you will learn

Enjoy using your oral Italian skills at an advanced level to discuss a variety of topics about contemporary life in Italy. The course aims to enhance the speaking and listening skills and to develop a wider vocabulary related to Italian life and culture. This course is suitable for advanced level students (Level C1-C2).

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Give a clear presentation on a topic, highlighting significant points and relevant detail
  • Grasp the overall meaning of TV news programmes, films, documentaries in standard speech.
  • Partecipate fully in conversations on general topics with a degree of fluency and naturalness.

  • Class format and activities

    The course will include some lessons on line and some on site . The online lessons will be negotiated and agreed. There will be the open option to deliver the course only online. You will need access to Microsoft Teams via a laptop and internet access. To access additional resources you will need to use the College’s virtual learning environment, Moodle. Typical activities include: online research, reading and analysing texts, completing individual activities to develop your own writing. Preparing and giving presentations also answering unprepared questions following a presentation. Listening to specific information and comprehension of authentic passages on familiar matters. You will be assessed by tutor assessment of informal weekly learning activities and formal coursework assignments. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor.

    Entry requirements

    We recommend that you completed Italian Proficiency : Conversiamo in Italiano unit 2 or equivalent before enrolling for this course.

    Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. It is advisable to spend few hours additional study outside of class time to support and consolidate your learning
