What you will learn

A practical introduction to observational drawing skills, using a range of materials. You will be taught various aspects of drawing from observation including proportion, perspective, line and tone. Examples of historical and contemporary drawing will be discussed in class and Learners are encouraged to develop a personal response to subjects including inanimate objects including everyday items, landscape, portraits, and photographic images. We encourage you to develop your own style and expression of drawing.

    This is a practical course, and you will spend most of class time drawing. The course focusses on drawing from direct observation and from photographs, using a variety of materials and techniques. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
