There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
This course provides a practical introduction to Aromatherapy for students with little or no knowledge or experience of the use of this complementary alternative therapy. Aromatherapy is the use of smell in a therapeutic manner using essential oils which are made up of tiny organic molecules with as many as 200 chemical constitutions. It is these constitutions that give the oil its unique therapeutic quality and aroma. The benefits of Aromatherapy are to restore harmony and natural balance via a holistic approach considering physical, mental and emotional well-being.
You will learn the theory of aromatherapy as well as practice the use of essential oils. You must therefore be prepared to have another student practice on you. You will give each other feedback, enabling self-evaluation and self-reflection. There will be a short test at the end of the course to assess the learning outcomes.
There are no academic entry requirements to do this course. Anyone with an interest in the use of aromatherapy and its practice as a complementary therapy can do this course. Anyone who is interested in self-help with using natural complementary and alternative treatment for self-healing will find something useful in this course.
Students must be prepared to have another student practice on them and be prepared to complete the patch testing and pulse testing technique used in Ayurveda medicine. All techniques must be carried out in accordance with the tutor’s instructions for health and safety reasons.
You should arrive to your lessons prepared to learn with pens, pencils and a writing pad. All other resources and materials you need will be provided.
You will be able to use essential oils safely with family and friends and will be able to dilute and blend essential oils and use your blend for a massage.
