This fun interactive online course will help you to expand your knowledge of German and progress from the level A2 to the level B1 (i.e. from the beginner to the intermediate). Conversation skills are the main focus of this course, so that you can speak German in daily life. You will learn essential vocabulary and the most frequent and useful phrases.
Practise speaking German in pairs and in a group, playing language-based games, using online resources such as apps and quizzes, listening, reading and writing. The written activities will be mostly set a homework. We will use Google Classroom for posting course materials, completing homework and communicating with the teacher. Excellent attendance and punctuality (over 90%) is required from all students. You will gain most from your course if you attend every session. Missing a class or lateness can make it hard to take part fully. Course outlines tell you what you can expect to achieve – this assumes that you are present throughout. However, we appreciate that absence is sometimes unavoidable. Please contact the College if you will be absent. Some courses may have a minimum attendance requirement – please check your course documentation.
We recommend that you complete at least 2 years of German classes before enrolling for this course. This is not a suitable class for complete beginners, you need to be able to have a simple conversation in German before you start this class.
Regular work is given to be done at home to support and consolidate your learning. You should therefore dedicate about 2 hours for this on a weekly basis. It is important that you have access to the Internet and a computer for the duration of the course and that you consult Google Classroom / your emails at least once a week.
Please bring a notebook and file to each lesson.
