Learners must complete 3 credits from Group M (Mandatory) and a further 12 credits from the optional unit groups; Group O1 (Digital Design), Group O2 (Digital Marketing), Group O3 (IT and Network Support), Group O4 (Machining and Manufacturing Technology), Group O5 (Productivity) or Group O6 (Software and Programming). A minimum of 9 credits must be at the level of the qualification. On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Certificate in Digital and IT Skills [GATEWAY]
The mandatory unit is called Digital Skills Career Progression This unit provides you with an opportunity to explore the importance of digital skills in the workplace, not just in the digital and IT industry, but also other industries. Learners will learn how digital skills are required in different types of job roles, and the digital skills valued by employers to establish a successful career in today’s digital economy. Learners will also identify their own career/progression goals and plan how they will develop their digital skills to meet their intended goals.
You have achieved minimum of 3 GCSEs at 3 (D) or above OR achieved successfully an appropriate qualification (a Certificate or Diploma size qualification) in an ICT or Computing qualification at Level 1.
We expect you to commit to the course by having 90% or above in attendance. You are more likely to be successful if you attend all your lessons. The sessions are face to face at the North Kensington centre. From time to time we reserve the right to have an online lesson. Assessment format. The method of assessment for the qualifications is through a portfolio of evidence. All assessments are subject to moderation and internal verification processes. Marks can move up and down after internal verification.
Ideally if you have a computer at home with internet access this will help support you practice your skills. You will need an USB and basic stationery, pens, paper and a folder.
On successful completion of your Level 2 Gateway Certificate in Digital ICT Skills you can progress onto BCS Level 3 Certificate IT User Skills (ICDL Advanced) (ITQ)
